GORDO and WhoMadeWho have joined forces for their new single ‘ENERGY’, released via Maison Arts. The collaboration brings together two artists from very different corners of the dance music world—an unlikely pairing that has been more than a decade in the making.
Alongside the release, the artists have unveiled an ambitious official music video on YouTube, adding a bold visual dimension to the track. ‘ENERGY’ marks the first official collaboration between GORDO, the artist formerly known as Carnage, and WhoMadeWho, the Danish trio celebrated for their emotionally charged and genre-defying approach to electronic music.
The story behind the collaboration dates back to 2012, when GORDO—born Diamante Blackmon—first met WhoMadeWho member Tomas Barfod at a studio complex in Los Angeles. At the time, Barfod and his bandmates were carving out their own space between indie music and club culture, while Blackmon was still known as DJ Carnage and was focused on hip-hop and EDM production.
Despite coming from very different musical backgrounds, the two artists quickly developed a mutual respect that lasted for more than a decade before eventually finding its way into the studio.
That long history is reflected in ‘ENERGY’, a bright, euphoric and peak-time-ready production that arrives as both artists continue to enjoy major momentum in their careers. GORDO has recently explored his Latin roots through projects including the ‘DIAMANTE’ album and ‘NO HAY VERANO SIN GORDO’ EP, while WhoMadeWho have continued touring their eighth studio album, ‘Kiss & Forget’, while earning recognition including a DJ Award and a Best Live Performer nomination at the Beatport Awards.
“Music evolves when people stop thinking about genres and start chasing emotion. Every record tells a story, and that’s what this collaboration represents to me. It’s about pushing boundaries, creating something new, and hopefully inspiring more artists to take risks,” GORDO said.
Tomas Barfod described the track as the culmination of a friendship that began long before either artist entered their current musical era.
“I met Diamante in LA back in 2012. I lived there during that period, and we were working in the same studio complex. I remember his insane energy and raw talent, but also his knowledge and curiosity about the underground club scene, even though he was producing hip-hop and EDM as DJ Carnage at the time,” Barfod explained.
“We came from very different places in the club scene, but I always respected him a lot. Lately, our paths have been moving closer, and after many years of flirting, we finally made a song together. It’s the perfect combination of our combined frequencies—light, fun and high ENERGY.”
Since moving beyond his Carnage era, GORDO has established himself as a major force across electronic music and global pop. The GRAMMY-nominated producer earned his nomination for his work on Diplo’s self-titled album and has worked with artists including Drake, Feid, Maluma, T-Pain, Tiësto, Eladio Carrión, Bad Gyal and Leon Bridges.
He also played a significant production role on Drake’s 2026 album ‘Maid of Honor’, contributing to nine tracks, following previous work on ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ and the Billboard Hot 100 hit ‘Sticky’. His continued success has helped him reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Producers chart, while he remains a regular presence on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list. Away from the studio, GORDO continues to develop his TARAKA event series and perform at major destinations including Tomorrowland, Coachella, Ultra and Pacha Ibiza.
WhoMadeWho—Tomas Høffding, Tomas Barfod and Jeppe Kjellberg—have spent more than two decades building a distinctive sound across eight studio albums. Their work has been connected to influential labels including Kompakt, Innervisions and Life and Death, alongside their own imprint, The Moment.
The Danish trio have also developed a reputation for highly immersive live performances. Their tours have featured stage design created in collaboration with BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), while major headline performances have taken place at venues such as Copenhagen’s Forum, Berlin’s Tempodrom and Paris’ L’Olympia.
Their latest album, ‘Kiss & Forget’, features collaborations with artists including Adriatique, RY X, Blue Hawaii and Kölsch. Meanwhile, the group’s Cercle performance at Abu Simbel has surpassed 8 million views online, further highlighting their global reach.
GORDO is currently in the middle of a busy summer touring schedule, with upcoming performances at Awakenings Festival, Scorpios Mykonos and Untold Festival, alongside a series of beach club and festival appearances across Spain, Italy, France and beyond through August.
