Sean Maynard

Background

Sean joined Fresh in February 2003 after a stint on a small community broadcaster in Ceduna.

With very little radio experience under his wings, Sean flew solo on the Monday breakfast shift before progressing to afternoon and drive all while juggling a Journalism degree. Rather than kicking back and punishing his liver in the Uni bar, Sean decided hanging around Fresh was a far more productive way to spend his time and at one point held down 4 radio shifts a week.

By 2004 Sean was able to use his Fresh experience as a springboard into commercial radio and commenced surf and traffic reports for Australian Traffic Network delivering reports to Mix 102.3, FiveAA, SAFM and Triple M. Later he transferred into the newsroom and the studio at Austereo, juggling sports reports and on air work with his regular shifts on Fresh.

Following pit-stops in Murray Bridge at 5MU and Power FM, and Newcastle at NXFM as Music Director, Sean returned to Adelaide and commenced as a Newsreader and Announcer at SAFM and Triple M. In 2006, he also commenced work with ABC as a reporter for Behind The News and continues to be heard and seen on reports for ABC3.

In between his extra-curricular work outside of Fresh, Sean remained with the station as a presenter and worked his way up to roles in programming including stints as Broadcast Director and Assistant Music Director. In 2012 he was awarded Life Membership. Sean has been presenting a weekly Fresh Weekend shift since 2008 and says his studio door is always open to new members who are keen to learn all about radio!
